The Family was a name given to a group of men who all played a part in the kidnapping, drugging, sexual abuse and torture of young males in Adelaide, South Australia, from 1970s to mid 1980s.
The group became known the Australian public when those responsible for the murder of five teenage boys where suspected of holding high profile occupations, leading to a high society conspiracy.
South Australian Police believe that up to twelve high profile Australians where involved in the kidnappings of the young teenage men. The suspects are all believed to be part of the The Family that sought out young men to drug and sexually assault.
Four out of the five murders still remain unsolved today and only one of the suspects has ever been charged. Bevan Spencer von Einem was given a 36 year jail term for the murder of 5-year-old Richard Kelvin.
