Synopsis

This film tells the story of how Einstein’s most famous discovery, E=mc2, went from being a mere set of symbols in a notebook to a weapon of mass destruction.

Using animated graphics and expert interviews, the video takes a detailed look at the meaning of E=mc², its scientific complexities and how Einstein discovered this rich source of energy. Einstein first published the E=mc² equation in 1905, but in 1935 with the Nazi’s becoming more powerful and with war imminent in Europe – did Einstein’s equation become critical to the military.

Einstein’s Equation Of Life And Death looks at the events of WW2 that propelled the creation of the nuclear bomb and Einstein’s final years of campaigning for disarmament and promoting peace between nations.
