In this documentary Professor Jim Al-Khalili explores whether nuclear power is safe after the explosions at the Fukushima nuclear plant and the release of radiation.

His journey begins in Japan where we meet some of the thousands of people who were evacuated from the exclusion zone. He then takes us to an abandoned village not far from the exclusion zone to witness a nuclear clean-up operation.

The film draws on the latest scientific findings from Japan and from the previous explosion at Chernobyl to understand how dangerous the release of radiation is likely to be and what that means for our trust in nuclear power.
