The Sweatbox

Topics Art

A documentary film created by Disney that has never been released on video in fear that the film would paint executives in a negative light. Filmmaker Trudie Styler, had been originally allowed behind the scenes to film the production of Kingdom of the Sun/The Emperor’s New Groove as part of the deal that originally brought her husband Sting to the project. What she captured was the struggle and controversy that went into creating the film, including the moment that Sting was informed his songs had been deleted from the film.

The documentary was completed and premiered at the Toronto Film Festival on September 13, 2002, but studio executives made sure the film has never been aired to the public since.

  1. I wish they had gone through with the original idea with Sting’s awesome music. The movie was funny but had no real heart and magic to it. 🙁
