It would hard enough for most of us to fathom the trauma of losing both parents to alcoholism and divorce, but for this family of seven siblings they managed to create a unique family structure. In this moving documentary film, we experience how one family’s struggle for survival and forgiveness can have transforming effects on individual identity.
For over four years the Trunk children were left to fend for themselves, often living without the luxuries of a telephone, electricity, heat and food. But just when life seemed unbearable for the children, all seven were rescued and taken in by relatives who already had their own children, and were struggling to live the American Dream. It was there that they had a second chance at becoming a family again.
