The Man Who Swims With Crocodiles
Costa Rican Gilberto “Chito” Shedden, aka the ‘Crocodile Man,’ swims, kisses and even feeds ‘Pocho’ the giant American crocodile in what is one of the world’s most bizarre friendships.
The friendship began 20 years ago when the local fisherman found Pocho dying on the banks of the Reventazón River after he was shot be a hunter.
After Chito nursed Pocho back to health and tried returning the croc to the wild, it refused to go and wanted to stay with Chito instead.
That’s when the unlikely friends became famous after they began performing together and Chito became one of the only men ever known who was able to tame a crocodile successfully.
The documentary follows Roger Horrocks as he investigates the legend first hand, witnessing Chito swimming with the massive croc and even riding on Pocho’s back.
The story confirms Roger’s belief that crocodiles have the ability to show emotion and create connections with human beings, an otherwise impossible notion in the crocodile’s long history.
