Despite living in one of the world’s richest countries, the Australian Aborigines have the worst health statistics and living conditions of any Indigenous group across the planet.
This film takes a look at Australia’s government policies that, whilst to close the gap between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians, are actually continuing to disempower Aboriginal communities and separate them from their lands, culture and languages.
The documentary highlights the struggle that the Australian Aboriginals are facing to save their land and freedom, a story that has been hidden from the Australian public by the government and mainstream media. Despite the Australian Government’s National Apology in 2008, paternalism and assimilation still continue to wreak havoc on their lives. The government is now discussing the possibility of a second “Intervention” in the Northern Territory. And it’s these very Aboriginal lands and seas that contain a large proportion of Australia’s precious natural resources, including uranium, which the government and mining corporations are determined to exploit.
Our Generation is driven by the “Children of the Sunrise” and their fight for freedom. This is their untold story, and their message stick to the world.
