Ron Fricke

A documentary exploring our planet from the mundane to the miraculous, looking into the unfathomable reaches of man’s spirituality and the human experience. Neither a traditional film nor a travelogue, it takes the form of a nonverbal, guided meditation.

Samsara is a Sanskrit word that means “the ever-turning wheel of life” and is the point of departure for the filmmakers as they search for the elusive current of interconnection that runs through our lives.

Shot over a period of five years and in twenty-five countries, the video transports us to sacred grounds, disaster zones, industrial sites, and earth’s natural wonders.

Using powerful images, the film illuminates the links between humanity and the rest of nature, showing how our life cycle mirrors the rhythm of the planet.

  1. how incredibly intelligent.
    how precisely organized.
    full marks on impact rendered.
how seamlessly inoffensive and purely ironic.
I have recommended it to everyone.
    Thank you.

  2. Animals should never be treated as shown in this film. I only pray that what I saw is not real. If it is true, it is not exceptable and needs to stop immediately. Human beings can only be ashamed to continue to participate and/or perpetuate this type of treatment of animals for their own gain and consumption. Cruel, absolutely mindlessly cruel.

    1. Animals are treated worse in all actuality, as are humans….We live in an egotistical, greed-consumed, evil reality…
