Strange Days on Planet Earth

Host Edward Norton explores how human activity affects the Earth's ecosystems.

All over the world, scientists working overtime to solve a number of mysteries. Transformations are happening across the globe and piece by piece, and researchers are putting together a new image of Earth.

Scientists are discovering that these mysterious events are somehow linked, like crumbling houses in New Orleans are connected to voracious creatures from southern China.

Forests that are disappearing in Yellowstone are connected with the diminishing numbers of wolves. An asthma epidemic in the Caribbean is linked to dust storms in Africa.

Scientists think we may have entered a period of global change that is developing faster than any human as seen before. Where is humanity heading? What can we do to alter this course of events?

Strange Days on Planet Earth sets out to answer these questions using research that is has been generated by a new discipline, Earth System Science.

The documentary series hopes to create an innovative type of environmental awareness by uncovering a cause and effect relationship between humans and the planet.
