In 2009, snowboarder Kevin Pearce was enjoying his most successful year on the international snowboarding circuit, winning events and challenging the dominance of childhood friend Shaun White. It was this rivalry that saw the pair push one another to perform ever more dangerous tricks, but on December 31 crashes on a Park City half-pipe during his training for the upcoming Olympics in 2010.
While Pearce is recovering from a traumatic brain injury that left him in a coma, Shaun goes on to win Gold, and all Kevin can think about is getting back onto the slopes. But doctors warn that even a small knock to the head could be enough to kill him, still he insists he wants to return to the sport he loves.
